Information you give us

Most enquiries reach us through the form on our Facebook or Instagram adverts, or directly on WhatsApp, by phone or by email. Depending on how you contact us, this may include:

• Your name
• Your phone or WhatsApp number
• Your email address
• Your company, farm or business name
• The town or area where your plastic is located
• The volume of plastic you have per collection
• The type of plastic you have
• Photos of the plastic, where you send them to us
• Notes from our conversation with you, so that we can quote accurately and plan the collection

Information collected automatically

When you visit this website we use Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking. These set cookies and collect technical information such as the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and your approximate area. We use this to understand which adverts bring people to the site. It is not used to identify you personally, and you can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time.

We use the information you give us only to:

• Contact you about collecting and buying your farm, factory or business plastic
• Give you a price and arrange a collection
• Keep records of enquiries and collections

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not send marketing messages to people who have not asked to hear from us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

We do use service providers who store or process information on our behalf, and who are only permitted to use it to provide that service to us:

• Google (Firebase and Google Cloud), which hosts this website and stores our enquiry and collection records
• Meta (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp), through which enquiries reach us and where our conversations with you take place

We may also share information where it is needed to arrange a collection with you, or where we are required to do so by law.

Our records are stored on Google’s servers, which may be located outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across borders, POPIA requires that it receives a comparable level of protection, and we rely on the safeguards our service providers have in place for this.

We keep your information only for as long as we need it to respond to your enquiry and manage our collection relationship with you. After that we delete it, unless we are required to keep a record for longer by law, such as for tax or accounting purposes.

Under POPIA you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need
• Object to how we use your information
• Ask us to stop contacting you at any time

To make any of these requests, contact us using the details below. We do not charge for this, and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
